1AMJOY.COM got to interview Alan Walker before his show at MYST on Saturday Jan, 7th. Here's what he had to tell us:
What got you into music?
I was about 13 years old when I first heard this kind of electronic music and a Norwegian DJ taught me the basics of how to compose, how to produce. Since then I focused on making the kind of music I want to make.
Any idols or inspirations you had?
I never really had any particular idol I wanted to be. I wanted to be able to produce this music.
You have recently abandoned the hoodie and mask image. Is that a subtle way of communicating you’re more comfortable with your increasing fame, or is there something else behind it?
No, it hasn’t been abandoned yet. The hoodie and mask image still ties into my trilogy.
“Faded” is strongly “Electro House”; do you think you’ll stick with Electro House in the near future or will you experiment with other elements?
Yes, I will continue with Electro House.
You made it into the DJ Mag Top 100 and you’re still 19. Is that something you expected?
No, I did not expect that.
A message for your fans at MYST tonight?
Thank you so much for all the support in 2016 and for continuing to support me.
Thank you very much!
